Perm region is a historically industrial area. In the region there are enterprises of the following sectors: mechanical engineering industry, chemical and petro chemical industry, metallurgy, fuel and energy, timber and timber processing industry and pulp-and-paper industry.

Therefore, encouraging and support of industrial enterprises is a priority for the Government of Perm region. The Ministry carries out its efforts in several directions, including development of laws and regulations, implementation of priority projects of the Ministry, development of industrial clusters and providing assistance to enterprises in federal programs participation.

The Ministry works in active cooperation with the State Corporation "RUSNANO". Within the framework of cooperation there was submitted 13 applications from companies which have development works in nanotechnology field. One of them has won funding from "RUSNANO" (OJSC "Penosital"). For 2010 it was planned to establish industrial park, low-budget funds and seed investment, and to develop programs for educational activities in the field of nanotechnology.

The Ministry uses the following mechanisms to attract investment into Perm regionindustrial enterprises:

  • provision of assistance to enterprises in implementing projects of federal significance;
  • development of regional and municipal transport and engineering infrastructure;
  • increase the concentration of institutions and other organizations contributing into the activities of industrial enterprises in Perm region;
  • simplification of customs procedures in the region to enhance foreign economic activity;
  • promotion of high-priority industrial clusters, which include aircraft engine production, timber processing industry, chemical industry, fuel and energy engineering, mining engineering, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, medicine and the pharmaceutical industry and construction materials production.
