Industry Investment
Perm is one of the most attractive regions in Russia in terms of investment. The main competitive advantages of the region are not only the availability of natural resources, industrial strength, good transport location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, but also the availability of specialized research centers, institutes and skilled personnel.
The favorable geographical position determines the structure of a complete transportation system. Transcontinental railway lines, highways and air routes intersect within the territory of Perm region. There are four the most eastern ports of a single deep-water system of the European part of Russia which provide access to the Northern and Southern Europe.
There are divisions of large world leader companies successfully working within the territory of Perm region. SUNlnBev, Nestle, Henkel, Schlumberger, Knauf, METRO Cash & Cany, Castorama, Hilton Hotels Corporation and others are among them. In 2009, the Siemens company placed its production unit in the region with the purpose of making compressors for gas compressor units. In 2010, a branch of the largest German company Thyssen Schachtbau Gmbh, one of the leaders in the providing services in coal mine construction and mountain drilling field, got registered in Perm region. Implementation of these projects shows the interest of potential investors in the territory of Perm region.
In 2006, the Government of Perm region reduced the rate of income tax for all companies registered in its territory. Today the income tax rate is 15.5 per cent with an average rate within Russian Federation – 20 per cent. There are preferences on corporate property tax for taxation of acquired and re-enacted fixed assets: during the first year from the date of fixed assets entry into operation it is 0.6 per cent during the second and the third years - 1.1per cent.
Thus, the above conditions ensure stable operation and further development of business in Perm region.
